In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 25, 2025, “Uzbek Overseas Geology Company” LLC, was established with the founding of “Uzbek geological exploration” JSC and “Uzbekgeofizika” JSC. This company specializes in geological exploration and geological research abroad. This resolution marked a new stage in our country's geological development, expanding its opportunities for active participation in the international arena in mineral exploration and industrial development.
Sustainably supplying Uzbekistan’s economy with essential raw materials, identifying new deposits, and effectively developing them are strategically important tasks today. Therefore, “Uzbek Overseas Geology Company” is being established not only as an organization conducting geological exploration but also as a modern platform implementing advanced technologies, digital solutions, and innovative approaches.
The company currently operates in the Republic of Mongolia, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This demonstrates Uzbekistan's geological potential on the international stage and opens new avenues for economic diplomacy.
As part of cooperation with Afghanistan, important agreements were signed on August 18, 2024, between the Ministry of Geology and Mining Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Mining and Petroleum of Afghanistan. Based on these agreements, exploration work is underway in the Afghan-Tajik oil and gas basin, iron ore reserves are being explored in the Bamiyan region, and prospective copper deposits are being explored in the Zabul region. At the same time, joint projects have been launched in Afghanistan based on a special Action Plan.
One of the important area of cooperation with Afghanistan is personnel training. To date, 40 Afghan students have studied at the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan. This will contribute to strengthening regional scientific integration and stability.
In addition, large-scale pilot tests were conducted in the area of profile MJ2001 of the Muhammad Jandahar investment block, located in the Balkh Province of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, to effectively organize and conduct 2D seismic exploration. The main objective of these pilot tests was to thoroughly understand the area's geological structure, identify promising formations with oil and gas potential, and evaluate the effectiveness of modern geophysical equipment and technologies used in 2D seismic exploration. During the pilot tests, seismic data collection, primary processing, and analysis were carried out with high accuracy. Following these large-scale pilot tests, 2D seismic exploration began at survey station 20002. The total length of the profile is 60.0 linear kilometers, with the initial section located in mountainous and rugged terrain. In rugged areas, bulldozers were used to level the ground, creating favorable conditions for seismic exploration. As a result of the work carried out, seismic exploration work has been successfully completed to date on a section with a length of 17.75 linear kilometers.
Under the Interstate Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Uzbek Overseas Geology Company is conducting comprehensive seismic exploration work in the Muhammad-Jandagar investment block using 2D methods. The goal of the project is to clarify the region's geological structure and identify promising targets for hydrocarbon resource development. Based on the synthesis and analysis of geological and geophysical data, a structural-tectonic model of the Paleogene deposits (Bukhara Horizon) has been developed.
These studies have defined the boundaries of the main tectonic elements and confirmed the region's high oil and gas potential.
Work is currently ongoing to integrate archival and new data on Cretaceous and Jurassic deposits into the digital environment. To ensure high forecast accuracy, a unified well database is being created using a specialized software package.
In the first quarter of 2026, “Uzbek Overseas Geology Company” LLC held a meeting with representatives of the Pakistani company “Habib Rafiq Engineering Pvt. Ltd”.
The HRL delegation was briefed on reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan's mining and geology sectors and the results achieved. The guests, in turn, expressed interest in leveraging Uzbekistan's experience in developing Pakistan's mineral resources and in working together in this area. The signing of a roadmap between HRL and UOGC was also discussed.
This large-scale activity is not limited to economic benefits but also strengthens scientific, technical, and diplomatic cooperation. Today, geology is becoming more than just a means of exploring deposits; it is also a strategic area that fosters trust, cooperation, and sustainable development between countries.
“Uzbek Overseas Geology Company” LLC is shaping a new image of Uzbekistan in the field of geology and serves as an important platform for bridging economic growth, scientific progress, and diplomatic trust through international projects.
