As previously reported, a technical delegation from the Ministry of Mining and Petroleum of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is on an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Yesterday, members of the delegation visited the University of Geological Sciences. During the visit, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of the University Obidjon Qodirov, made a presentation for the guests. He provided detailed information about the organization of the University, areas of education, faculty, scientific potential, and modern material and technical base. The presentation featured slides detailing the University's research, innovative projects in geology and mining, international cooperation, as well as the scientific personnel being trained in master’s and doctoral programs. Furthermore, Maksud Rizayev, Head of the Regional Geological Department of “Uzbek geological exploration” provided a detailed overview of the Joint-stock company’s activities.   At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of scientific research, exchange of experience, and establishment of further cooperation in the field of geology and the mining industry.

As part of the visit program a delegation from Afghanistan visited the Samarkand region. During the trip, the delegation members got acquainted with the famous historical and architectural monuments of the city. In particular, the guests visited Registan Square, Guri Amir Mausoleum and Bibi Khanum Mosque and received detailed information about the history and cultural significance of these rare monuments. The rich historical heritage of Samarkand aroused great interest among the representatives of the delegation and left warm impressions. During the visit, it was noted that such cultural exchanges would contribute to the further development of friendly relations between the two countries. It is expected that this visit will make a positive contribution to the further strengthening of mutual cooperation, as well as cultural ties.

Uzbekistan is one of the countries with significant scientific, practical, and technological experience in geology and mining. Bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has taken another important step in the mining sector. Specifically, in accordance with cooperation agreements signed between the Ministry of Mines Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan, Afghan specialists arrived in Uzbekistan for advanced training. This advanced training program is organized under the auspices of the Uzbek Overseas Geology Company, and participants will undergo 28 days of training at the State Institution “Institute for Advanced Training of Mining and Geology Workers” at the University of Geological Sciences on the topic “Modern integrated methods of laboratory and analytical research in the geological exploration and mining industry”.

A working delegation of “Uzbek Overseas Geology Company (UOGC)” employees continues its business trip to Jordan. On November 25, the company's geologists visited the Fifa copper mine in the south of the country and conducted a detailed study of the geological structure of the area and the existing parameters of the mine. As part of the visit: The existing geological maps, sections of fossil layers and reports compiled on previous studies were thoroughly analyzed; Preliminary assessments of the copper ore-rich layers of the mine, their thickness, distribution in depth and industrial significance were carried out; Samples were taken from various points of the mine in order to conduct comprehensive analyses in laboratory conditions, test materials were prepared to determine the main metals and additional elements in the ore; Infrastructure, logistics and technical capabilities for excavation work in the mine area were reviewed. The work carried out during this mission will not only confirm existing data, but will also be important in forming a new geological database, determining the economic value of the deposit, and determining the next steps in the project. These processes will allow UOGC not only to strengthen international cooperation, but also to further increase its experience in working on foreign deposits based on modern geological approaches.

On November 24, 2025, as part of a working visit to Jordan, “UOGC” specialists visited the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission. During the visit, official talks were held with Commission Chairman Dr. Khaled Toukan and Commissioner General Ahmad Alsabbagh. During the negotiations, areas of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, issues of increasing technical potential, and opportunities for developing bilateral relations were discussed. During the visit, the activities of the Commission's technical laboratories were also reviewed. The specialists were introduced to the laboratory equipment, inspection capabilities, and technological processes. On November 24, 2025, the UOGC delegation also toured the infrastructure of cores storage facility. They examined the facility's technological equipment, storage conditions, and current standards. The visit contributed to the further strengthening of scientific and technical cooperation between specialists from the two countries.

Strict measures will be taken against enterprises polluting the air

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with the leadership of the Administration and relevant agencies on urgent measures to improve the environmental situation in Tashkent. The main factors influencing the current situation and ways to reduce the negative impact on human health and the environment were discussed in detail. The meeting emphasized the need to take strict measures against enterprises polluting the air in the event of violations of established standards. When it comes to human health, there can be no compromise, and this principle must apply equally to both the government and businesses, noted Saida Mirziyoyeva. Based on expert opinions quickly prepared during these days, Saida Shavkatovna presented comprehensive proposals for the near, medium, and long terms, ranging from immediate measures to systemic solutions aimed at preventing similar situations in the future. In particular, measures were identified to strengthen environmental monitoring, restrict the activities of polluting facilities, tighten construction requirements, implement large-scale greening of the city, and create a modern air quality monitoring system.
